Choose one place for requests
A note on the counter, a text, and a shopping list can all contain different versions of the same request. Agree on one working list and show caregivers where it lives. Start with routine items such as spare craft paper, tissues, or replacement clothing. Keep private purchases and any specialized care instructions outside this ordinary restocking worksheet.
Make the request specific enough to fulfill
Write the item and where it is usually stored. If a particular size matters, include that detail rather than expecting the person shopping to guess. Say whether there is a usable substitute already in the house. This can prevent a rushed duplicate purchase when the cupboard simply needs rearranging or someone has put the spare supply in another room.
Close the request when the item is available
Assign a buyer only once the person agrees, then mark the item replaced when it is actually back in its usual place. A purchase made online may still be several days away. Keep that distinction visible if someone is planning tomorrow’s activities. Remove completed entries regularly so the list remains a useful view of what the household still needs.
