Free new caregiver welcome checklist
Prepare for a new caregiver’s first visit with a practical household walkthrough, communication preferences, and questions to discuss together.

A welcome checklist gives a new caregiver a starting point for the household. Complete it together during an introduction, with room for the caregiver’s questions and working preferences.
Plan a walkthrough before the busy moment
Choose a time to show the everyday spaces and supplies without trying to leave for work at the same instant. Explain where bags, spare clothing, and the current routine are kept. Invite the caregiver to try finding those things themselves so unclear labels become obvious. The checklist records the introduction; it is not a substitute for selecting a suitable caregiver.
Agree on how information will move
Show where to find the latest plan, how to record an ordinary update, and how to ask a question that needs a timely answer. Ask which arrangement is practical while the caregiver is working. Write the agreement in plain language so neither person has to guess whether a photograph, log entry, or message is expected during every part of the day.
Make the first review easy
Leave a field for questions that arise after the walkthrough, then choose a time to revisit them. A first-day question can reveal a missing instruction rather than a problem with the caregiver. Mark items as discussed only after both people have had the chance to speak. Keep the welcome sheet separate from the daily plan so it remains a useful reference.
